Scot McKnight, Ph.D., is Professor of New Testament at Northern Seminary, Lombard, Illinois. He is the author of more than 30 books, including The King Jesus Gospel, One.Life, and The Blue Parakeet, as well as Galatians and 1 Peter in the NIV Application Commentary series. His book, The Jesus Creed: Loving God, Loving Others, was named a Christianity Today book of the year in the Christian Living category (2004). McKnight serves as a general editor of The Story of God Bible Commentary series, which launches in 2013 from Zondervan. His Sermon on the Mount volume releases October 2013 (ISBN 978-0-310-32713-4).
Dr. McKnight is Professor of New Testament at Northern Seminary and is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature and the Society for New Testament Studies. As a recognized authority on the New Testament, early Christianity, and the historical Jesus, McKnight has given interviews on radio and television stations across the nation, and regularly speaks at local churches, conferences, colleges, and seminaries in the USA and abroad. McKnight was born in Illinois and reared in Freeport, Illinois. He earned his B.A. degree from Grand Rapids Baptist College (now known as Cornerstone University), an M.A. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and a Ph.D. from the University of Nottingham in 1986. Scot and wife Kristen live in Libertyville, Illinois, and have two children.
Lynn H. Cohick, Ph.D., is Professor of New Testament in the Department of Biblical and Theological Studies at Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois. Prior to her work at Wheaton, Cohick spent three
years teaching at the Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology in Nairobi, Kenya.
Cohick has published several books and articles including, Ephesians in the New Covenant Commentary Series, Women in the World of the Earliest Christians, and The New Testament in Antiquity. She has written on early Jewish/Christian relations in her book, Melito of Sardis: Setting, Purpose, and Sources, and has penned several articles on women in early Judaism and earliest Christianity. Cohick’s volume, Philippians (978-0-310-32724-0), is one of the first two volumes in Zondervan's The Story of God Bible Commentary series which launches this October.
Cohick earned her B.A. degree in Bible and Religion from Messiah College and her Ph.D. in New Testament and Christian Origins from the University of Pennsylvania. She holds membership in several Professional Societies including North American Patristics Society, Society of Biblical Literature, Evangelical Theological Society, and Institute of Biblical Research. Lynn and her husband James reside in Wheaton, Illinois, and have two children.
